The is for a RokN 1st generation USB adapter, an 802.11n wireless USB adapter designed for use with Apple Macintosh computers running OS 10.3 and later (this is Snow Leopard compatible!). This also works with Windows PCs and Linux (requires Windows 2000, XP, or Vista). This is a wireless USB adapter that is compatible with the 802.11n draft 2.0 standard giving you expanded range and up to 300 megabits per second (mpbs) data transfer when used with 802.11n draft wireless routers (throughput speeds will vary, 300 mbps is the maximum).

This adapter is also backward compatible with the 802.11g and 802.11b WiFi standards, so even if you do not have an 802.11n router yet, you can still use this with your existing router. Or if you have 802.11n at home and 802.11g at work or on the road- no problem, this adapter will work with any of the standards (B, G, and N). Compare this device to the Airport Extreme-N wireless card from Apple selling online for about $85.00! Another great feature of this device is that it works with any Mac that has a USB port (and OS 10.3 or later), you do NOT need to have an Airport card slot in order to use this. This works with any brand 802.11n and 802.11g/b router such as Belkin, Netgear, and D-Link. It is compatible with Airport base stations but you do not need to have an Airport brand base station, you can use any brand. The necessary drivers for ALL of these operating systems noted above are included on CD-ROM so you don't have to go searching around on the Internet. That being said, we should note that our technical staff can only provide techincal support for Windows and Mac operating systems. We can provide very limited support for Linux use.

This adapter is 802.11n draft 2.0 compatible. 802.11n is the latest in wireless networking technology, featuring super expanded range and speeds almost 6X that of the 802.11g standard. To take advantage of the 802.11n capabilities, you must have an 802.11n draft compatible wireless router or access point. This is backward compatible with the 802.11g standard (top speeds 54 mbps) and the 802.11b standard (top speeds 11 mbps).

Attenion PC users: most newer laptops and desktops come with 802.11g wireless devices built-in. If you are looking to upgrade your wireless capabilities, consider going with an 802.11n wireless adapter like this one, even if you have not yet bought an 802.11n router. It is the wave of the future and an absolute MUST for any type of multimedia Internet activity such as watching movies, downloading songs, or playing online video games!
